Letter

Hotel Regina,
Folkestone,
May 22nd 1916.

Dear Mr. Platt.

I hope by this time you have received my letter of the 9th. giving you particulars concerning Errol. My son, Lieut. G.L.B. Mackenzie has written me to say that the N.C.O.'s and men of "A" Coy. 3rd Battn. have of their own initiative collected a substantial sum of money for the purpose of erecting a brass tablet to the memory of Errol, in the Church which he was in the habit of attending in Toronto. The officers of the 3rd Battn, will also contribute to this object. I am desired to write and advise you of the above and to ask your approval of the scheme. The tablet would simply state the facts of time and place, etc., and also state that the tablet was erected by N. C.O.’s and men of Errol's company and fellow officers. Will you also kindly let me know the Church in which the tablet should be placed, if you think well of the proposal, and further will you tell me the age of your son. It is proposed that the tablet should be engraved here in England and I have undertaken to look after that.

With kind regards,
Yours sincerely,
Geo.A.Mackenzie.
