November 2/16.
Dear Mother
Well another month has come into existence and it is only 6 or 7 weeks now till Christmas I am at present in convalescent ward having spent three days in hospital with a slight touch of fever. I am all right now again and I expect I will be clear of the medicals altogether before they have had me a week. This is the first touch of fever I have had since I was in Nairobi in May so I think I have been very lucky. There is no news to write about in this country about the war. Some say it is nearly over while others say its not so which is it. Most things tend towards a near finish so I think it must be near a close.
Say Mother there is simply nothing to put in a letter here when you write. I suppose I may say I got a new pair of shoes and laid my Canadian shoes to one side. They are good yet and easy on my feet so I wont throw them away. This week is the first time I have had another pair of shoes on my feet since I drew that issue at Vancouver. They wear well, fit well and are comfortable. These new ones are only fit for packing cases they are so hard and clumsy.
We get plenty of good fruit and eggs down here and quite a few hens and chickens so we get some tasty meals. Well Mother I will have to say Bye Bye. Wishing you all “A merry Xmas and a Happy New Year” with lots of love and best wishes I must close
Your loving son
Harold.
