Letter
Cologne, the 18th of January.

I now know the reason, why my letter to Ralph of Nov. 18 has not been answered. By George Flewelling, one of Ralph’s companions I got the news that this man with his golden heart has Died in Dortmund of Spanish Grippe. It is me a necessity to tell you that I feel this lost with you.
I never shall forget him, whom
I may name my friend.
[Alfond?] Schmitz.
P.S. We lived together ¾ years. If you would like to ask some things about this time I am ready to that.
